Body painting is something that people throughout the world love to try while the western world is more into permanent or temporary tattoos people in the east prefer applying Mehndi.

Mehndi is a colored paste which people put on their body mostly hands and feet. This mixture is made up by grinding leaves of Henna plant. Once applied it needs to be dried out and washed, this leaves a brown color on your body more like a tattoo but without all the pain and needles. Putting mehndi on hands is a practice mostly done in the subcontinent the people apply mehndi on different celebratory occasions but is especially applied during Eid and weddings. In old days women used to apply the paste directly on their hands and feet without any design but now the paste is applied through a pipping bag type cone with a pointy end like a pen or pencil to give precision to different intricate designs.

In Ramadan muslim women throughout the countries of India and Pakistan after the sighting of the moon start preparing for Eid by preparing delicious food and applying mehndi. On this night (Chaand Raat) there's a huge crowd of ladies around the salons waiting to get the best and unique mehndi design.
