Experincing the beauty of VENICE

By Nida Naz - May 01, 2019

Venice had been on my travel bucket list for quite sometime now and i always wanted to see this beautiful city, so after planning for quite sometime we decided to finally explore the city. We traveled  to Italy during the month of March when the weather is neither too hot nor too cold, we took a 6 hours 40 minutes Emirates flight from Dubai International Airport to Malpensa International Airport and from there we took a bus to the Milano Centrale Railway station which would take us to Venice.

EXPLORING VENICE

We took the train name Rail Italia and after 2 hours of travel reached Venezia Santa Lucia station which is along the Grand Canal. The train station has many famous outlets to shop from as soon as you leave the station door you enter the city. Being surrounded by water and run through canals the people there use boats or bicycles as there basic transportation.

PLACES TO SEE IN VENICE

The city has small alleys leading you to the city's center, we started exploring the city early morning and visited the main tourist attraction areas like

St.Mark's Square

Saint Mark Basilica

Doge's Palace

Rialto Bridge

Basilica di Santa Maria Della Salute

After visiting these places on foot, we decided to book the famous Gondola ride of Venezia and the second day took the Speed boat ride of the city. Both experiences were great but the true spirit of the city is captured while traveling through a Gondola. They give you ride of the whole city through the canals so you get time to capture beautiful pictures throughout the trip.

WHERE TO STAY

While visiting Venice we had the option of staying either on the mainland which is called "Mestre" or staying in the center of the Venice. For the first two days we stayed in a small cosy hotel in Venice to get the full experience of the city. Although staying in Venice is a magical experience but it comes with a huge price as you will find everything here pretty expensive as compared to the Mestre, so if you are under a budget go for the hotels in Mestre as they are more spacious and way cheaper.

Here's a list of hotel to choose from:

WHAT TO EAT

We didn't want to spend too much money on food on our trip so we went out to search for good cheap options and the best one was Italy's famous Pizza! do try the thin crust pizza option at Pizza Al Volo and also you can explore different small markets selling fresh fruits and vegetables and some bakers too offer freshly made bread which tastes delicious.

HOW TO BOOK YOUR TICKET

To avoid the hassle of booking tickets for everything on my own I got them from a travel agency, they helped book everything in advance so I didn’t face any reservations or travel problems during my Venice trip. You can either get yourself a good reasonable package through http://www.traveltechs.net/ or you can book yourself online through the hotel and airline websites.
